LANCASTER, N.Y. (WKBW) â The Lancaster Police Department is recognizing an officer who alerted a Depew family that their apartment building was on fire.
Officer James Robinson, Jr. was on patrol March 1 when he saw smoke coming from the roof of 4880 Broadway. While some tenants were evacuating the building, Officer Robinson learned others may still be inside the apartments in the back.
Robinson entered the building and alerted a woman in the rear apartments, who was unaware that the building was on fire. Police say he helped the woman and her children leave the apartment as smoke spread quickly. Everyone was able to make it out of the building safely.

At this writing Snowflake, Natalie’s star-crossed white Honda Accord, languishes at Kumler Collision and Automotive’s intensive-care unit. It is an amazing automobile: reliably 40 mpg from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing driving big front wheels through a continuously-variable transmission.
With intelligent traction control, anti-lock brakes, and an adaptive front suspension our senior-citizen special will slither over muddy unpaved roads and through rush-hour traffic jams filled with tractor-trailer rigs. In short, if either of us, at age 73 just behind the Beach Boys, ever drove it that way, this thing would blow away all competition on the Pacific Coast Highway.
