Mayor Gale Katchur proclaimed February as Black History Month in Fort Saskatchewan on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Katchur “encourage[s] all of our residents to recognize and celebrate Black history and culture while building inclusive communities for all residents.”
“Throughout its long history, Canada has been characterized and strengthened by its diverse and distinctive cultures,” Katchur proclaimed.

The Fort Saskatchewan Multicultural Association (FSMA) is continuing to offer programming online throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
The Fort Saskatchewan Multicultural Association, through a grant from The Government of Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, has been able to provide sessions to assist residents in coping with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These sessions are geared towards our youths and adults as we look to get active! …New to the community, the Afro Fit program integrates African dance moves and music into a fitness program–a great stress reliever!” the Association explained via social media.
