Limestone County Coroner Mike West says a 70-year-old man died early Tuesday in a fire in Athens.
West identified the victim as Richard Booth.
One person was killed in a house fire on Lawson Street in Athens.
A call came in about a fire in a Lawson Street home about 4 a.m. Tuesday.

A house fire early Tuesday morning in Athens has left one dead and a portion of Forrest Street temporarily blocked.Â
Limestone County Coroner Mike West confirmed a male victim died in the blaze, which occurred on Lawson Street, near Julian Newman Elementary School. No other victims have been reported at this time.Â

One person is dead following an early morning fire in Athens.
Athens Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire today 4:11 a.m. on Lawson Street off Forrest Street.
Interim Chief James Hand said there was one fatality. The fire appears to be unintentional. Crews were still on the scene around 11 a.m.
The victim’s name will be released later.

UPDATE: Limestone County Coroner Mike West revealed the identity of the man who died in Tuesday’s fire in Athens.
The coroner confirmed to WAFF the victim was Richard Booth, age 70.
