At least 20,000 Wisconsin Public Service customers lost power during severe thunderstorms in northcentral Wisconsin on Wednesday night. As of nearly 10 p.m., Lincoln County appeared to be the hardest-hit county in the area. Thousands of customers near Tomahawk and Merrill were without power, according to WPS. National Weather Service Encourages Having Plan in Place Ahead of Tonight s Storms

National Weather Service The latest update from the National Weather Service still shows severe thunderstorms to start moving into our region around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. The main time period appears to be 6 PM to midnight with the storm starting in the northwest and heading southeast. Credit National Weather Service Portions of north-central & east-central Wisconsin have been upgraded to a moderate risk. The latest modeling from the National Weather Service shows Price, Oneida, Lincoln, and Langlade Counties in the moderate risk category for severe weather. That’s the second highest severe storm threat. A step below that, Iron, Gogebic, Vilas, and Forest counties are in the enhanced risk category.

Walgreens to Start Vaccinating in Wisconsin, DHS Releases County-Specific Vaccine Data

2:14 Iron County is leading the state when it comes to the percentage of people that have gotten at least one shot. 18.5 percent of Iron County residents have gotten at least their first dose. Oneida County is tied with Bayfield County for 5th highest at 16.7 percent. Iron, Oneida, Price, Vilas, and Forest Counties are all above the state average.  Lincoln and Langlade Counties are below it. These will likely even out as vaccine rollout moves further along. “We also added in a population formula so that we would equitably distribute the vaccine across the state,” said Willems Van Dijk. “That means rural communities will get a proportionate number of vaccines as will urban communities.”
