While the Grenfell Tower and Lacrosse Building fires happened a few years ago, the National Construction Code (NCC) was updated in 2019 to provide new guidance on the required pathways to compliance for cladding products. This revision was made to ensure a clear understanding of which products were compliant to current Australian building standards. However, confusion still remains.

The continuing confusion over product compliance is often the result of opinion-based information that filters out to the industry and gets interpreted as fact. This information can sometimes go against the NCC or contradict it completely, which adds further confusion around the topic of cladding compliance.

Victoria has recorded 12 new local cases of COVID-19 after a number of apartment buildings, supermarkets and bottle shops were added to the more than 400 exposure sites across the state on Friday evening.
All the new cases are linked to the current outbreak and 10 of the 12 cases were in quarantine throughout their infectious period, the Department of Health said on Twitter.
More than 39,800 test results were returned across Friday, with 19,281 vaccination doses administered at state-run clinics.
Victoria has 169 active cases, including 159 related to the outbreaks seeded from Sydney.
There are ten cases in hospital, including three in intensive care and one on a ventilator.
Multiple officers held down three men who screamed to be let free.

The number of protesters ballooned into the thousands on Saturday afternoon, well and truly outnumbering police. Police had one man in handcuffs and were taking his details. It’s unclear what led to the arrests. Crowds at Flinders Street Station had earlier shouted slogans such as “no more lockdown” and “Sack [Victorian Premier] Dan Andrews”. People in the group of demonstrators also let off orange-coloured smoke flares and beat drums. After about three hours the anti-lockdown protest had almost dissipated. Police divided the crowd into sections near Flinders Street Station, and deployed pepper spray at the entrance of the station.
