A 62-year-old trader, Olabosipo Bankole, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State for allegedly beating up a policeman and tearing his uniform.
The police charged Bankole, who resides at Alagbado Road, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos State, with conspiracy, breach of peace and assault.
Bankole, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the defendant and others, at large, committed the offence on Feb. 22, 2021 at her residence.
Ayorinde said that the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, when she assaulted ASP Olaiya

Two men; Nicolas Asindu, 43 and Jacob Mashi, were on Wednesday, brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with fraud.
The duo is facing charges for obtaining N1.5 million with the pretence of renting out a two-bedroom apartment.
Asindu, 43, businessman and Mashi, 26, security guard, both residents of Ikeja, were docked a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the duo committed the offences on Oct. 14, 2020, at Opebi, Lagos.
Ayorinde said that the defendants fraudulently obtained the money from Sandra Nnamadi and Cynthia Nnamadi with the pretence of renting out to them the apartment at No. 16, Aderoju Adewuyi Street, Ikeja.
A 27-year-old fisherman, Fatai Yussuf, has been remanded in a custodial center in Lagos over alleged killing of his six-week-old daughter whom he threw into a lagoon, because she was sick.
A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, on Wednesday, ordered that a 35-year-old security guard, Patrick Akpan, who allegedly beat his three-year-old daughter to death be remanded in prison custody.
