Sanwo-Olu Launches Body Cameras For Lagos Law Enforcement Officers

Channels Television   Updated April 1, 2021 Sanwo-Olu launched the body cameras at the Government House in Alausa, Ikeja on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.   Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday launched body cameras for security agencies in the effort to enhance security and safety in the state. The governor during the unveiling at the Government House in Alausa announced that law enforcement officers in the state will now make use of body cameras while discharging their duties. He said the use of the cameras will help provide first-hand evidence in the case of any wrongdoing. “To enhance public safety and increase investors’ confidence, I approved the use of body cameras and mass training of its use for law enforcement personnel in Lagos.

Security agents to wear body cameras in Lagos

It will be facilitated by the state’s Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI), headed by Prince Oyekan Falade. After the training, all state-funded law enforcement officers will be commissioned to wear body cameras for their operations. With body-worn cameras, the law enforcement officers will be better equipped to protect lives and properties, thereby, making Lagos safer. According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the move would improve transparency and accountability in the activities of law enforcement agencies, and put the state government in a better position to respond to security challenges in real time. Provision of adequate security, the governor said, is a key pillar of his administration’s agenda, stressing that the initiative reflected his government’s resolution to ensure Lagos remained secure for residents and investors.
