Since the inauguration of the Ninth National Assembly in 2019, Nigerians have witnessed the death of no fewer than 10 federal legislators. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives have grieved over the loss of some of their colleagues. While some died due to old age, others died after suffering one illness or the other.
Although death is inevitable, and a call everyone must answer as and when due, itâs painful for families and friends whenever someone they love dies. The constant deaths of the lawmakers, which happen days or months apart, has given rise to mixed feelings from various quarters.

Lagos, April 1, 2021 Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru (APC-Lagos East) on Thursday promised not to abandon or fail any of his constituents in both representation and improved welfare.
Abiru gave the assurance at the formal launch of Senator Tokunbo Abiru COVID-19 Relief Financial Assistance in Lagos.
He said that the assistance was a scheme designed to ameliorate the devastating economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the people at the bottom of the pyramid.

Senators were, on Tuesday, divided on the pronouncements of the aviation regulatory agency, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, ( NCAA) grounding the operations of one of the local airlines, Azman Airline.
The Senate Committee on Aviation, led by Senator Smart Adeyemi had invited the Director-General of the NCAA, Captain Musa Shuaibu Nuhu for clarification on growing apprehension surrounding the safety of airlines.
Nuhu who maintained that the NCAA was doing its best to safeguard lives through surveillance and reprimand of erring airline operators further revealed that one of the local airlines, Azman was suspended because of a glaring breach of safety regulations.
