LHC adjourns hearing of Gorchani corruption case

MULTAN: The Lahore High Court Multan Bench Wednesday adjourned the hearing of gross irregularities and corruption case against ex-deputy speaker Punjab Assembly Sher Ali Gorchani who had filed a petition against NAB proceedings, challenging its action against his property. The LHC Multan Bench stayed NAB proceedings on the last hearing of the case last month and forbade Rajanpur deputy commissioner and Assistant Commissioner not to auction petitioners’ property. Earlier, NAB officials have made a reference against Sher Ali Gurchani, his wife Roop Ali Gurchani, father Sardar Pervez Iqbal Gurchani and brothers for making assets beyond their income, on which the Multan Accountability Court has granted bail to petitioner Sher Ali Gurchani and his wife Roop Ali Gorchani. The LHC Multan Bench prevented NAB from confiscating the properties of the father and brothers.

MULTAN: The Lahore High Court Multan Bench reprimanded the Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer for not recovering a boy who had gone missing two years ago. LHC Multan Bench Justice Farooq Haider observed: Institutions are defamed due to such illegal activities, court said, ordering the DPO to produce the missing boy. Earlier, petitioner Haq Nawaz s lawyer Syed Athar Shah Bukhari said his client s 18-year-old son Muhammad Abrar was picked up by the police from Basti Makool Kalan (Taunsa Sharif) two years ago. His father is a retired headmaster. He searched for his son everywhere, but no institution is ready to admit that he is in its custody, he informed the court. He said his father had heard that he was arrested on the charge of uploading objectionable material on social media. However, neither police nor any agency was taking responsibility for it, the petitioner said.
Court shows displeasure over police performance

MULTAN: Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz of the Lahore High Court Multan Bench on Friday expressed displeasure over poor police investigation in a case. The court also warned the SSP Investigation to improve investigation otherwise the court would summon the Multan CPO. Earlier, Muhammad Usman Naeem filed a petition in which he alleged that 10-12 members of a land grabbers group attacked him to snatch his property. He said that one member of the group was injured during firing by his accomplices, but the police were reluctant to incorporate relevant sections. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till mid January.
