The Morning Advertiser (MA) showed drink sales at the House of Lords and House of Commons’ bars totalled £281,107.31 in 2020 – of which £22,062 came since July when venues were initially allowed to reopen following the UK’s first national lockdown.
Of that total, £133,672.87 was spent in the House of Commons’ Smoking Room, Strangers Bar and Pugin Room and £147,434.45 across the House of Lords’ bars during 2020.
A LAWYER who represented the city council in a High Court fight with a street-homeless ex-asylum-seeker is at the centre of a race-row.
Brighton and Hove City Council said it has “immediately” withdrawn instructions from lawyer Jon Holbrook after a series of Twitter posts came to light. The senior barrister tweeted that the Equality Act was “empowering the stroppy teenager of colour” in response to the story of a pupil who was sent home from school because of her Afro hair.

Leigh is a pioneer member of the HSBC (HSBA.L) Pride + Ally Network in GSC Philippines. Under Leigh’s leadership a number of significant initiatives and company policy changes were made, including the establishment of both gender neutral and gender preference restrooms, the inclusion of same sex and domestic partners in their insurance coverage and inclusion of treatment of HIV/AIDS in HMO coverage.
Leigh took the lead in the D&I forum held in India in sharing Philippines Pride best practices and initiatives and established an annual PAN GSC SOGIE Awareness session, which she personally facilitates. In addition, she played a critical role in the establishment of Pride ERGs in GSC India and China.
