Boko Haram sympathizers and others who support Nigeria being an Islamic State are stalling the fight against militants in the West African country, a local priest has said.
According to Fr. George Ehusani, a priest of the Diocese of Lokoja and executive director of the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, many of those secretly backing the activities of militants in Nigeria occupy key positions in various sectors of the country.
In a July 22 interview with ACI Africa, Fr. Ehusani said that the sympathizers are thwarting every effort to defeat the militants by either supporting them materially or leaking key information pertaining planned offensives from the country’s military ranks.

Emeritus Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Archdiocese, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has urged Nigerians to put elected leaders on their toes and hold them accountable, NAN reports.
According to the cleric, Nigerians are used to “just sitting and complaining about everything” but do nothing to challenge bad leaders.
Onaiyekan stated this on Tuesday in Abuja at the North Central Zonal Dialogue Conference, organised by Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, in partnership with Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy, and Development.
“Nigerians have gotten used to just sitting and complaining about everything. They complain about government and politicians, but they do not take their role of citizen participation seriously.

A Catholic Priest, Rev Fr George Ehusani, has said Nigerian leaders have continued to push the narrative that the citizens hate one another so that they won t be united against them.
The cleric, who is the founder of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, a training outfit for future church leaders, spoke in a viral message to members of his congregation.
According to him, the rogue leaders have made Nigerians believe they hate one another when there is actually no hate.
The launch was part of efforts at seeking psycho-social support for the growing number of victims Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and other forms of insecurity in the country.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters, Sheik Muhammad Nura Khalid, said that the insecurity in the country must be holistically examined so that the root causes of the problem can be tackle and lasting peace achieved in the country.
On his part, the founder of The Kukah Centre Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, noted that when it comes to the issue of responsibilities, the Federal, state and local governments would like to tell us they cannot do it all alone, that they need collaboration; but when it come to the distribution of resources for the welfare and wellbeing of the people, government believes that it can do it alone.

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Friday, said despite the challenges facing the nation, the unity of Nigeria should not be trivialised.
Ibrahim, who spoke during a two-day training program for corps members on citizenship, conflict resolution, and nation-building by Lux Terra Network and Advocacy Group in Abuja, however, noted that poor governance was the bane of any society.
So, he urged the corps members to contribute to the quest for nation-building, stressing that among them were future presidents and leaders of Nigeria.
He said, “The unity of Nigeria cannot be trivialised, regardless of the challenges we currently face.
