RAJKOT: The pride of three lions, who have almost made Rajkot city’s outskirts their permanent home, is now giving sleepless nights to villagers.
Sauntering around the adjoining villages for the past 36 days, a lioness and two sub-adults have killed over 20 milch cattle in Naranka, Rajpara, Bhayasar and other villages of Kotda Sangani and Rajkot talukas.
On Tuesday, villagers along with Rajkot rural BJP MLA Lakha Sagathiya, made a representation to the forest and environment Ganpat Vasava, demanding that the forest department should be directed to relocate these lions to Gir.
Narendrasinh Jadeja, former president of Kotda Sangani taluka panchayat said, “We had represented the forest department earlier too, but in vain, so we approached the minister. The department neither has lion trackers in Rajkot nor trained staff.”
