PORTVILLE A domestic incident early Friday led to a man being shot by a New York State Police trooper.
Around 1:30 a.m., troopers out of the State Police at Olean responded to a violent domestic incident dispatched by Cattaraugus Sheriff’s Office on Yubadam Road.
After arriving at the residence and speaking with the victim, a male suspect, later identified as Ryan T. Ehman, 40, advanced toward troopers armed with a bow and arrow. Troopers gave several commands to drop the weapon, and after he failed to comply a trooper discharged his Division issued firearm, striking Ehman.
Ehman was taken into custody and transported to Erie County Medical Center via Mercy Flight for injuries. This is an ongoing investigation, criminal charges are pending.

After arriving and speaking with the victim, troopers said that a male suspect, later identified as Ryan T. Ehman, 40, advanced towards troopers armed with a bow and arrow. After commanding Ehman several times to drop the weapon, Ehman did not drop the bow. A trooper discharged his Division-issued firearm at that time, striking Ehman. Ehman was taken into custody and transported to Erie County Medical Center via Mercy Flight for injuries.

PORTVILLE, N.Y. (WHEC) A New York State Trooper shot a Cattaraugus County man during what police are calling a domestic incident Friday morning.
According to state police, Troopers responded to the incident at a home on Yubadam Road in Portville around 1:30 a.m. While speaking with the victim, police say the man, identified as Ryan T. Ehman,40, advanced toward a trooper while armed with a bow and arrow. Troopers gave several commands to Ehrman to drop the weapon, but police say, Ehrman refused to comply, and a trooper shot him.
Ehman was taken into custody and transported to Erie County Medical Center via Mercy Flight for injuries.
