RAWALPINDI: Stage is all set for the Kashmiris living in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to use their right to vote in the elections to three AJK Legislative Assembly seats for migrants today (Sunday).
Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Constituency LA-XXXIX-Jammu-VI fell in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; LA-XLIII-Kashmir Valley-IV comprises the area of Rawalpindi city union council 15 to 50; and LA-XLIV Kashmir Valley-V constituted areas of Rawalpindi City Union Council 1 to 14, Islamabad Capital Territory, Rawalpindi Cantonment and Attock district.
PML-N had won the seats in last election and this time a close contest is expected between PML-N, PPP and the ruling PTI.

RAWALPINDI:
As many as 43 shopkeepers were arrested in Rawalpindi on Saturday for violation of preventive measures against coronavirus and directives of Punjab government to curb the spread of Covid.
On special instructions of Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younas, the police held 43 shopkeepers for opening shops and registered cases against them while 29 shops were sealed for violating orders. Police, along with officials of the local administration, conducted raids in Murree Road and Sadiqabad localities.
The CPO said that police was committed to ensure implementation on directives of Punjab government against coronavirus lockdown. He made it clear that strict action would be taken against the violators.

The Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmar visited the security personnel at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) injured during the protests.
Rawalpindi Commissioner (RC) Gulzar Hussain Shah, Islamabad Inspector General of Police Qazi Jamilur Rehman, and other officers also accompanied the RPO on Thursday and inquired after the health of the injured personnel.
The officials stated that those who performed their duties fearlessly are the best assets of the force and will not be left alone in this difficult time. The commissioner also instructed the medical staff to provide the best facilities to the personnel.
