Bill Advances To Exempt New Mexico From Time Changes - By Morgan Lee, Associated Press New Mexico would eliminate twice-annual seasonal time changes under a bill endorsed Friday by the New Mexico state Senate. On a 22-18 vote, the Democrat-led Senate approved a bill that would keep New Mexico on daylight saving time throughout the year. It was unclear if the House will bring the measure to a floor vote before the legislative session ends on March 20. Democratic House Speaker Brian Egolf was co-sponsor of a similar bill in 2015 that won Senate approval and stalled in the House without a vote.

Michelle Lujan Grisham’s use of a taxpayer-funded expense account to buy almost $13,500 worth of goods and services, such as dry-cleaning, tuna steaks, liquor and Wagyu beef, over a six-month period in 2020. Colón confirmed late Thursday that his office “opened an examination on this matter” this week after receiving a complaint from a constituent. “This will be handled the way we handle all of these complaints,” said Colón, a Democrat. The opening of the auditor’s examination was first reported by KOB-TV. ...................... Colón said he had already agreed his office would look into the matter when he received a letter from 14 members of the Senate Republican Caucus Thursday afternoon asking for a special audit of the fund.

Michelle Lujan Grisham uses her contingency fund. The governor came under scrutiny and critical fire last month after media organizations reported on expenditures that ranged from personal items and services to $6,500 on groceries that included Wagyu beef, tuna steaks and several purchases of bottles of tequila, vodka, gin, wine and beer. At the time, one of the governor’s spokespeople said the goods were not for her, but for members of her staff, including her security detail, as well as for visitors.
