The 11 year-old pedestrian was struck on Adswood Road, near the junction with Rostrevor Road, shortly before 6:20pm.
A yellow weather warning is in place for some counties in Northern Ireland until midnight on Sunday as strong winds cause disruption.
Counties Antrim and Down as well as parts of Scotland are affected by the weather warning, which has caused some travel disruption over the weekend following snowfall on Saturday.
It follows a weekend of weather warnings after a yellow weather warning for snow ended at 10pm on Saturday.
There were icy stretches and widespread accumulations across Northern Ireland, with NI Direct urging caution on untreated roads, footpaths and cycle paths. There could be travel delays and a risk of injuries and accidents, a spokesperson warned.
