‘She saved my life’: Staten Island neighbors meet up every day, rain or shine, to survive pandemic together

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In the little neighborhood of Village Greens in Arden Heights, sheltering in place for months on end gave way to some great friendships.
One day, in the beginning of the pandemic, in late March, after sitting inside for weeks, Roz Kurland said, “I’m going outside to sit on the bench.”
She did. Her other neighbor, Maureen Dubison, who has lived there for 46 years to her 47, said, “I’ll bring over a chair.” They both came from Brooklyn directly to Village Greens.
