Woolworths, Endeavour grilled over capex

Woolworths’ liquor and hotels business Endeavour Group may have to raise new capital sooner rather than later if shareholders approve a proposed $12 billion demerger from the food retailer next month.
Woolworths shareholders believe Endeavour’s ALH hotel business has been somewhat starved of capital under the control of Woolworths, because of environmental social and governance (ESG) concerns and because better returns could be made from investing in supermarkets and liquor stores.
They plan to grill Endeavour Group chief executive Steve Donohue and Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci about the drinks group’s expansion and capital investment plans following the demerger.
