After putting the kibosh on the 4C Spider with the 33 Stradale Tributo, Alfa Romeo is bidding farewell to a mainstream car from its aging lineup. The Giulietta has been taken off the UK configurator, and other European markets will follow suit because the Tonale is waiting to pounce. 49 photos
Speaking to Autocar.co.uk, product marketing boss Fabio Migliavacca explains that motorists now prefer SUVs instead of hatchbacks. That is probably the slowest reaction to a trend in the automotive market in the past decade, more so if you remember Ford’s announcement from April 2018.
Instead of beating a dead horse, the Blue Oval took the honorable decision of phasing out every single passenger car from the North American lineup with the understandable exception of the Mustang. The high-ranking executives at General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles followed suit, and can you blame them? After all, pickups and crossovers reign supreme.
Alfa Romeo is sending off the Giulietta in Australia with the launch of the limited-run Finale Edizione.
Limited to just 35 units for the local market and available to order now from AU$48,950 (US$37,865), the Giulietta Finale Edizione has, according to Alfa Romeo, been designed to combine “sportiness, elegance and dynamic performance for a final celebration” of the hatch.
The Giulietta Finale EdizioneThree is available in three exclusive colors: Alfa White, Anodized Blue, and Magnesium Grey Matte. The car has also been equipped with yellow brake calipers and yellow accents on the front and rear fascias. It also features a carbon fiber-style front grille, wing mirror covers, and side skirts to give it an aggressive and sporty look. Other alterations include the fitment of a Magneti Marelli sport exhaust system and 18-inch wheels.
