BUDAPEST: Two animated films received production grants from the National Film Institute – Hungary. Director Marcell Jankovics is making a film version of his
Toldi series based on János Arany’s popular epic poem.
Tony, Shelly and the Spirit directed by Filip Pošivač is a stop motion animation set in Christmas time and made for families.
Toldi, produced by Kecskemétfilm, has been granted 680,000 EUR / 245 m HUF. It started as a 12-part series funded by MTVA (Media Services and Support Trust Fund) with 2.6 m EUR / 1 billion HUF, which was completed in January 2021. It depicts the heroic adventures of the valiant and extremely strong Miklós Toldi in the Middle Ages. Additional scenes are being made and they are compiling a feature film from the series. The

Film Center Serbia Prioritises PCR Testings for Film Crews in Serbia
BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia (FCS) is making the PCR testing for film crews a priority, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information, it is supporting the filmmaking trade associations and guilds in organising group vaccinations for their members.
Since May 2020, when the official and compulsory healthcare guidelines regarding filmmaking during the pandemic were established, Film Center Serbia has been formally aiding film crews to get PCR testing as priority groups.
According to the official data, more than a million of Serbian citizens have been vaccinated by the beginning of March 2021, reaching 95% of those who had applied for the vaccination up to that point. The goal is to reach two million vaccinated persons. Serbia has one of the highest inoculation rates in Europe, mainly thanks to the government s large purchases of the Sinopharm vaccine from China and the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. T
SOFIA: Bulgaria s Ministry of Health has allowed the re-opening of cinemas on 1 April 2021, together with theatres, museums, galleries, libraries and circus performances, but only at 30% of their capacity.
The activity of restaurants and entertainment centres will be allowed indoors from 6.00 a.m. to 11 p.m. As restaurants in malls and commercial centres will not be allowed to function, the consumption of drinks and food will not be possible, even if the respective cinemas are open.
Classes in dance, creative and musical arts are also allowed starting 1 April 2021.
Forced to follow the anti COVID-19 epidemic measures, which ordered the closure of all cinemas throughout the country from 22 to 31 March 2021, the 25th Anniversary Sofia Film Fest will now restart with some of the films that could not meet the audience live. The festival will restart from 2 to 8 April 2021 presenting highlights from its traditional programmes in cinemas.
