A Saskatoon man convicted of an apartment invasion robbery where identity was a key issue is serving a total sentence of six and a half years.
Judge Sanjeev Anand imposed the sentence in Saskatoon provincial court earlier this month after convicting Michael Trent Antoine, 34, of breaking and entering to commit robbery, wearing a face mask during the commission of a crime, and four charges related to a sawed-off rifle that was in his backpack during his arrest.

In a trial where identity was key, a Saskatoon provincial court judge said he was left with something “approaching absolute certainty” that Michael Trent Antoine was one of three men involved in an apartment invasion robbery.
The Kingsmere Boulevard building’s surveillance video shows three men with hoods up some wearing masks and gloves come down the stairs holding various electronic items on Aug. 29, 2018.

Giving his decision on Friday, Judge Sanjeev Anand said a high-resolution still image of one of the suspects on the video unmasked and outside the building is “identical” to Antoine.
