Broadway Bruiser and Credit Fraud both became two-time winners in the Game Of Claims Trotting Series for $15,000-level horses on a Monday afternoon at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, where the temperature cracked the freezing mark only near the end of the card.
Those two horses shared a couple of other traits, too: they were both driven to victory by a Napolitano, with each horse retaining the brother who won with them last week; they did this despite the fact that both were claimed out of their first prelim round; and both will again be moving to a new barn via claim after their triumphs in $15,000 divisions Monday.
If future wagering were offered today on the Borgata Pacing Series Final, which will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 after five preliminary legs, the two favourites would undoubtably be Let It Ride and This Is The Plan.
After 40 of the 47 eligible pacers were entered into the Borgata Series first leg and split into five divisions, those two favourites found themselves in the same split–the first one of the series–which begins tonight (March 15) in race three.
Let It Ride N won two Group 1 stakes in Australia in 2018, but lost his form and settled into a winless rut in 2020. He shipped to America last fall to Nifty Norman’s stable and added Lasix, which Norman credited as a key change for the eight-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven gelding.
The outside post was no deterrent for Bettor Memories at Freehold Raceway on Saturday (March 13), as he cruised to an easy win in the Preferred Handicap pace.
Despite the outside post, Bettor Memories went off as the 3/2 favourite in his Freehold debut. Driver George Brennan sent him directly to the lead, and crossed over to the pylons without much trouble before the opening quarter. Bettor Memories got the opening quarter in a sharp :27.4, then slowed it down for a :57.1 half mile.
At the three-quarter point, Brennan began to open up his drive, and got through three-quarters in 1:25.3. No one was able to seriously challenge the leader in the stretch, and Bettor Memories cruised under the wire a length in front, stopping the clock in a sharp 1:53.3.
