Best conc NEWS RELEASE Two Southern Ontario males face charges linked to drug trafficking after an investigation into general disturbances around a south-side neighbourhood identified a local victim of an ongoing home takeover event.  Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were in the area of the 400 block of Victoria Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 3. The officers were conducting patrol based on various reports of incidents of vandalism, drug use, persons in possible medical distress and other events of concern. 

Suspects arrested, charged in violent convenience store robbery

Police arrested two suspects Tuesday linked to the investigation of a convenience store robbery that occurred Sunday. Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to the Barb’s Laundromat at 300 North May Street just before 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 23 following reports of a robbery that had just occurred. When police arrived, they learned two males had entered the business. One male forced his way into an area where the businesses’ cash register was located while a second suspect attempted to distract a store clerk. When the store employee became aware of the robbery attempt, both suspects became involved in a confrontation with the clerk. Both suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police issue warrant for man wanted in firearms incident

Robert Bannon (police handout) THUNDER BAY – Police have identified a 24-year-old Thunder Bay man as a person of interest wanted in connection a recent shooting incident on Gore Street. Det.-Insp John Fennell said they’ve exhausted all investigative avenues in their attempt to locate Robert Bannon and are turning to the public to locate the man. Fennell said anyone knowing the whereabouts of the suspect should not approach him, but instead phone police with any relevant details. Police have not recovered the firearm involved. Two separate incidents involving shots fired took place last weekend, one in the 500 block of Gore Street West on Saturday night just before 9:30 p.m. and the other on Sunday night at 10:10 p.m. near Limbrick Street. There were no injuries reported in either incident.

Woman taken to hospital after Amelia Street assault

THUNDER BAY A 42-year-old Thunder Bay man has been arrested following an assault at an Amelia Street residence that sent a 57-year-old woman to hospital.  Thunder Bay Police on Monday said they were called to a home in the 200 block of the Westfort Street just after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, following reports of an unconscious woman.  By the time police arrived on scene, the woman had already been transported to hospital for evaluation and further treatment of her injuries.  Police say their investigation revealed a physical confrontation had take place between the victim and the accused at the doorway of the 42-year-old male s residence. That altercation allegedly led to the woman s injuries. 

Police investigate pair of reports of shots fired

The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating two separate weekend incidents that involved firearms.  TBPS officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to the first incident just before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 in the 500 block of Gore Street West following reports of possible shots being fired.  Police learned a vehicle described as a light-grey SUV was observed leaving the scene prior to their arrival.  Officers were dispatched to the second incident at about 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 2 in the area of the 100 block of Limbrick Street following reports of possible shots fired.  Police learned a vehicle described as a white SUV was observed leaving the area following the incident.
