The drugs haul was found at an empty industrial unit in South Douglas Street A CANNABIS farm of more than 1,000 plants with a potential street value of £600,000 has been discovered on a Clydebank industrial estate. The sophisticated operation was found in a warehouse in the town at the weekend after officers on patrol detected the smell of cannabis and heard the sound of fans from inside. It is understood to have been a well established cultivation when police found it. Officers made the discovery in the industrial estate in South Douglas Street at about 5.20am on Saturday, May 1. Detectives and forensic crews spent the weekend gathering evidence and disposing of multiple skips full of equipment, including fans, lights, tubing and other items.
The Duke of Edinburgh accompanied the Queen on a visit to the Vale of Leven Hospital, and other locations in Dunbartonshire, on June 28, 1965 THE Lord Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire has led the local tributes to Prince Philip following the Duke of Edinburgh’s death at the age of 99. Bankies have been adding their signatures and messages to an online book of condolence set up by West Dunbartonshire Council after the announcement on Friday of the death of the longest-serving consort in British history. Clydebank, along with communities across the UK, will observe a minute’s silence at 3pm this Saturday, April 17 – the start of the Duke’s funeral – while flags will continue to be flown at half-mast from all council and other government buildings until Sunday.
Queen Elizabth and Prince Philip visited Clydebank in 2008 Prince Philip will be fondly remembered by many Bankes with the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth visiting the area back over the years. Tributes poured in to commemorate the life of the Duke after his passing on April 9, and we took a trip back down memory lane to uncover photographs from the Queen and Prince Philip s visit to Clydebank to officially open the West of Scotland Heart and Lung Centre at the Golden Jubilee National Hospitain in July 2008. Both Prince Philip and the Queen took the time to speak to the youngsters before enjoying a tour round the facility and speaking to the many staff and patients who could not wait to meet them.
