For Brazilian heavyweight Rodrigo Nascimento, being a well-versed fighter on the feet, on the ground, and everywhere in between doesn’t necessarily makes you a complete fighter.
“Ze Colmeia,” who battles Alan Baudot at UFC Vegas 31’s curtain jerker on Saturday night, says that suffering his first loss as a professional MMA fighter a 45-second knockout to Chris Daukaus in his most recent bout in October 2020 finally made him “complete.”
“My last fight was a new experience for me,” Nascimento told MMA Fighting. “I had never lost before. I had lost in jiu-jitsu, but never in MMA. I had a coach who always told me that a complete fighter isn’t the one that has jiu-jitsu, boxing, muay thai it’s the one that has injuries, weaknesses, the one that has a second job, that has had wins and losses. My last fight was my day of becoming a complete fighter, as he used to say.”

“It’s with great regret that I have to inform you all that I will Not be fighting this evening. My opponent/camp tested positive for Covid so the fight is off. I want to wish him a speedy recovery, want to thank the UFC for the opportunity but mainly want apologize to everyone who was looking forward to watching me fight today. I promise you there is nothing I would rather be doing than putting on a show for you all this evening. Thank you all for the love and support. It truly means the world to me. I hope to have some fight news for you soon but in the meantime we will stay focused and stay positive. Let’s keep moving forward!” – Johns wrote.

It wasn’t easy, but Rodrigo Nascimento got the job done against Alan Baudot in the opening fight of UFC Vegas 31, earning a technical knockout stoppage halfway through the second round.
Baudot made things interesting in the first round, throwing with violent intentions from all positions and testing Nascimento’s chin on the feet and on the ground. But when the second round started, Nascimento turned the fight around and used crisp technical striking to push Baudot up against the cage. Baudot had no answer but to cover up, and referee Chris Tognoni stepped in at 1:29 of round two for a technical knockout win.
I am ready for everybody, Gamrot said in his postfight interview.
Gamrot attacked Stephens from the opening bell, taking him down. From there, Gamrot got dominant position, grabbed ahold of Stephens left arm and applied the kimura one of the nastiest-looking submissions in MMA.
Afterward, Gamrot said he wanted a top-15 opponent, and he has likely earned such an opportunity.
Gamrot (19-1, 1 NC) has won two in a row since dropping his UFC debut his lone career loss to Guram Kutateladze via split decision last October. The Poland native is the former KSW lightweight champion. Gamrot, 30, finished Scott Holtzman via second-round finish in April.
