The money will support Special Olympics New York athletes and coaches preparing for national competition in 2022. The credit union will donate $500 for every gold, $250 for every silver and $125 for every bronze medal won by the USA Olympics Team in Tokyo to Special Olympics New York’s own USA Games delegation. Rotterdam man charged after threat, police said | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS GAZETTE COVERAGE The department responded to a call on Curry Road where a man had threatened someone with a knife at their shared residence, according to police. The victim told police the man had entered the house and was impaired from drugs. Police blocked off Curry Road midday between Pinelawn and Parklawn avenues to establish a perimeter and for safety purposes, they reported. Multiple attempts were made to contact the suspect and summon him outside. After hours of no response, the Police Department located Aaron Merrit, 32, inside the home and took him into custody, police reported.

FacebookTwitterEmail ROTTERDAM During a four-day period from April 19 to April 22, multiple police agencies took part in an investigation into child exploitation and human trafficking - and charged 14 men and one woman with prostitution solicitation, criminal sex acts and attempted rape. Police said the suspects were arrested at locations in Colonie, Clifton Park, Rotterdam and Schodack over those four days. The 14 men charged ranged in age from 25 to 69 years old and were from across the Capital Region. The woman, age 69, was charged with patronizing a person for prostitution. The investigation involved State Police; the FBI; Rotterdam, North Greenbush, Colonie and East Greenbush police; and the Saratoga County Sheriff s Office, troopers said.

William Manikas is raising concerns over a $25,000 audit conducted by a law firm the town hired after the town supervisor’s office sent a news release Thursday that the chief said is woefully inaccurate. “I feel compelled to address several inaccuracies and false implications outlined in the unsigned press release sent by the Town of Rotterdam on February 17, 2021 and will outline them below,” Manikas said Friday in a release. Manikas’ release comes after Town Supervisor Steven Tommasone’s office sent a release Thursday stating an audit done by Albany law firm Barclay Damon found the department lacked policies and procedures on how to handle the town’s sex offender registry. Those findings come after a February 2017 event in which an officer was disciplined after he failed to properly registe
