Troubled teens handed suspended sentences for stealing sweets The two young girls were handed suspended sentences after admitting to stealing sweets from vending machines 20 May 2021, 1:35pm by Matthew Agius Two young girls, aged 14 and 16, have been handed suspended sentences and probation orders after they admitted to charges of stealing sweets from vending machines at the care home where they reside. The girls were arraigned before magistrate Monica Vella on charges of aggravated theft and criminal damage. One of the girls was also accused of breaching a probation order. They were accused of breaking into vending machines on 25 November last year and 18 May. Sweets were stolen, the police said.

Teenagers warned to never again set foot in court

Two teenage girls who stole sweets from a vending machine at the care home where they live were on Thursday let off with a suspended sentence and a strong warning by a magistrate to “never again set foot in court!” The 14 and 16-year old girls were escorted to court under arrest over two instances of aggravated theft and wilful damage to third party property that allegedly took place in November and again two days ago. One of the girls was also charged with breaching a probation order. The troubled youths admitted to the charges and apologised. Magistrate Monica Vella delivered judgment, together with a stern warning to the girls to steer away from further trouble.
