RALEIGH, N.C.  The Clemson track and field program concluded competition at the 2021 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday evening after seeing its women’s team score 69 points to finish in a tie for fifth, and its men’s team score 65 points to finish in sixth. Saturday’s action saw Clemson capture two ACC titles at 800 meters, garner seven first-team All-ACC honors, and collect 12 second-team All-ACC accolades. Kameron Jones became the best men’s 800m runner in Clemson history after setting a new school record of 1:45.47 en route to winning the event’s final on Saturday. In addition to the new school record, Jones also set a meet record and facility record while becoming the fastest collegiate athlete at the distance this season. The previous meet record stood at 1:46.66 and was held by Virginia’s Paul Ereng following his performance at the 1988 conference championships. RALEIGH, N.C.  Areya Campbell (heptathlon), Harleigh White (triple jump), Veronica Fraley (shot put), and Leah Disher (800 meters) each registered top 10 all-time marks at Clemson during the second day of competition at the 2021 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. The final day of competition will begin on Saturday at 2 p.m. as Roje Stona contests the men’s discus. Veronica Fraley placed third in the women’s shot put competition after throwing 16.46 meters (54 feet, 0 inches) during the second round. Fraley’s performance improved her mark as the program’s No. 2 all-time performer. The third-place finish gave the Raleigh native the first first-team All-ACC honor of her career.

The Clemson track and field program is set to compete at the 2021 ACC Outdoor Championships from May 13-15 in Raleigh, N.C., at the Paul Derr Track Facility on the campus of NC State. This week's competition will begin on Thursday, May 13, at 11 a.m. with the men's javelin and will conclude on Saturday, May 15, following the men's 4x400m relay at 8:40 p.m. All three days of this year's outdoor championships will be broadcast live on ACCNX.  We're feeling good about the meet, said Clemson's Director of Track and Field Mark Elliott. Stona, Barton Collect ACC Weekly Honors GREENSBORO, N.C.  The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that Roje Stona (Men’s Field) and Laurie Barton (Women’s Track) have earned ACC Performer of the Week honors after their respective performances this past weekend. Today’s announcement marks the first weekly conference honor for Stona, while Barton receives her second weekly honor during the 2021 season. Stona collects the ACC’s weekly honor after winning his third discus competition in as many meets this season while contesting the event at ACU’s Oliver Jackson Twilight Invitational on April 21. Down in Abilene, Stona threw 58.47 meters (191 feet, 10 inches) on his sixth and final attempt to win the competition by 1.87m. A native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Stona has a season’s best of 60.87m (199-8) and currently occupies the second position on Clemson’s all-time list for the event after throwing 61.37m (201-4) during his 2019 campaign.

Sloley Throws All-Time Mark at Oliver Jackson Twilight Wednesday ABILENE, Texas   Danielle Sloley broke the 15-meter barrier in the women’s shot put for the first time in her career on Wednesday at the Oliver Jackson Twilight Invitational by throwing 15.10 meters (49 feet, 6.5 inches) to become the No. 6 performerin program history for the event. Sloley entered Wednesday’s competition as the No. 8 performer in the shot put at Clemson after throwing 14.71m (48-3.25) during the Tennessee Relays earlier this season. Despite Sloley’s all-time performance, Veronica Fraley led the way for the Tigers in the women’s shot put by throwing 15.90m (52-2) in the final round of competition. The pair of Tigers finished second and third on Wednesday evening, with Fraley’s runner-up result serving as her fourth top-5 finish of the 2021 outdoor season.
