And, I suspect, many other youngsters (now with thinning or greying hair and dicky knees) will also recall that firm request as they were wise words from mums and dads or caregivers.

One month … 30-odd days … and a winter will be upon us again.

That remarkable gentleman who could lace a necktie to absolute perfection. He always appeared so wonderfully dapper, even in his casual weekend riding kit, and on the day I encountered his fine suit and tie, and his smilingly welcoming demeanour, he was clearly notching all those attributes up.
It was 1970 and the Queen and her devoted consort Prince Philip had arrived in town and the town accordingly went crazy.

Like now where did I park the car again?
But the ones I like the best are the ones that apparently cannot be solved.
Well not yet…but someday maybe. But until that someday arrives I will cherish a good mystery.
One of my favourites, and it goes back to my childhood years, which was a fortnight or two back, is that of the strange lights and objects in the skies above.
