Syvia Vetta on Magdalen Bridge The low-lying water meadow was once a council rubbish tip but since 2010, thanks to the Friends of Aston’s Eyot, it has become a habitat for wildlife. People can start this walk in Meadow Lane near Donnington Bridge. Ms Vetta, from Kennington, said: “Plenty of buses go up the Iffley and Abingdon Roads. “If you are going by car, you can park on Meadow Lane behind the sea scouts hut.” Walkers should then exit the car park turn left on Meadow Lane in the direction of the city centre. After the allotments, enter through the marked entrance to the Kidneys, on your left. Follow the path as it curves right and cross the Kidney footbridge where swans often nest and enter into Aston’s Eyot.
