A 19-year-old woman will appear in a virtual hearing before the San Fernando First Magistrates’ Court today, charged with manslaughter in the stabbing death of Stephon Ramnarine.
An official statement from the Police Service reports that NANYAMKA WORRELL (also known as ‘Mama’) was charged with manslaughter on Friday 18th December 2020, following the advice of Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC.
Worrell was arrested and charged relative to the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of STEPHON RAMNARINE, which occurred on Sunday 13th December 2020, at Hope Street, Tarodale.

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate virtually on Monday charged with manslaughter.
A police press release stated that Nanyamka Mama Worrell was charged on Friday on the advice of Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC.
Police said that on December 13, at Hope Street in Tarodale, Ste Madeleine, Stephon Ramnarine, 26, was liming with friends not too far from his Hill Crest Extension home.
The release said that 4 pm and 5 pm, an argument broke out and Ramnarine was stabbed on his left shoulder with a knife by a woman whom he knew.
Law Association reviews Evidence (Amendment) Act
THE LAW Association (LATT) has commented on proposed additions to the Evidence Act.
On Thursday, the association’s secretary Shankar Bidaisee wrote to Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi and provided the LATT’s legislative review committee’s comments on Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
The bill was introduced in the Senate on December 8, and seeks to amend the Evidence Act to provide for the use of different identification procedures, interviews and oral admissions, and special measures for evidence by video-link.
The comments were also sent to the Opposition and all senators.
The association also invited members to comment on the latest practice directions issued by the Chief Justice which puts a ban on in-person hearings and for matters to be heard electronically.

Prison reform activist Wayne Kublalsingh said his group, the Prison Reform Movement, is not lobbying for the release of prisoners, but rather, calling for the humane treatment of prisoners.
Dr Kublalsingh clarified his group s stance on Friday while speaking with reporters after delivering documents to the Office of the President on the Queen s Park Savannah.
