GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â The Alzheimerâs Association Grand Rapids Walk to End Alzheimerâs is moving forward with plans to host its 2021 Grand Rapids Walk to End Alzheimerâs in downtown Grand Rapids.
This is the first year the event will take place in downtown Grand Rapids.
The new course is 2.1 miles and begins at Rosa Parks Circle. From there, walkers will cross the Grand River on the Blue Bridge, head back across on the Gillett Bridge and follow the Riverwalk down to 6th Street Park. Walkers will then return to Rosa Parks Circle down Monroe Avenue.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â The eighth edition of Nanaâs Run â a 5K run/walk that brings necessary clinical support and special equipment to local patients struggling with ALS â will take place Saturday with both in-person and virtual options.
After shifting to a virtual format last year, an in-person race will take place in downtown Grand Rapids, starting and ending near Rosa Parks Circle, a news release said Friday.
Safety measures include asking participants to wear masks and a rolling start featuring an open starting line, allowing each person to start at any point during a 30-minut window.

Regardless of what the verdict was, Grand Rapids Police Sgt. Dan Adams said they took preventative security measures because of people would try to exploit peaceful protests, hijack the event and cause chaos and destruction.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI When six women of Asian descent were killed last month in shootings at three Atlanta spas, Michigan Sen. Stephanie Chang worried about the safety of other Asian-Americans.
“I remember feeling first very sad at the lives that were lost, then angry at the law enforcement response that was happening and then also just scared, worrying about safety and the safety of my parents and their generation, wondering where are the public spaces that are safe for us to be in,” Chang, D-Detroit, said at a “Stop Asian Hate” rally in Grand Rapids.
