Cities in West Michigan were prepared for potential protests following the verdict of a former police officer.

Regardless of what the verdict was, Grand Rapids Police Sgt. Dan Adams said they took preventative security measures because of people would try to exploit peaceful protests, hijack the event and cause chaos and destruction.
