Alan Futterman, Bremerton WestSound Symphony

It is with great sadness this week that we announce the loss of a long-time member of the Bremerton WestSound Symphony community. Janice Williamson (1936-2021) along with her husband Mark Williamson, was a stalwart supporter of all our orchestral activities and perhaps the nicest, sweetest person that any of us have known. Many of our activities for youth would not have been possible without Janice and Mark’s generous contributions over many years. These include our former youth symphony, this competition and our youth Jazz ensemble. Her legacy will live on in the many students who have passed through our youth music programs and gone on to thriving professional careers. All our thoughts and our hearts go out to Mark Williamson.

Those changes were approved as part of the overall budget and five-year plan approved by City Council in June. The tax incentive was known to help the city’s cash flow, but not enough to keep it.
The mayor’s office projects that eliminating the discount will increase city revenues by about $6 million in fiscal year 2021. Those additional funds will go to the general fund. The change also affects the Philadelphia School District’s portion of the real estate tax, leading to $7 million in additional funds to support education, officials said.
Before the pandemic, paying before the last day of February meant getting the 1% discount. Real estate taxes are due March 31. The Department of Revenue usually mails real estate tax returns in December.

January 13, 2011 Fixing the economy and respecting the land is the message Soren Sorensen, who is from Bemidji, hoped to endorse as he arrived in Seattle to participate in the Occupy Seattle protests. Sorensen, 38, spent $300 on gas and $50 on handouts he gave to people on his stops along the way from Minnesota to the rainy city.

January 13, 1996 Searching for a downed snowmobile is not how Terry Peterson of the Twin Cities wanted to start the new year. He was trying to skip across the open water on Lake Bemidji on his new 1996 Arctic Cat and didn t make it. A crew unsuccessfully tried to snag the sled but a diver was able to connect to the sled, which was then pulled out of 22 feet of water.
(CLARK CO.) – A Louisville man was arrested after a short pursuit early Monday morning.
Around Midnight, Clark County dispatch advised that a “boom” truck, allegedly stolen in Kentucky, was possibly en route to the Charlestown, Indiana area.
An Indiana State trooper spotted a truck matching the description, traveling eastbound on I-265 near the Clark and Floyd County line. The trooper followed the vehicle as it exited on State Road 62 eastbound and attempted to make a traffic stop; however, the truck failed to stop and fled eastbound on State Road 62.
The vehicle struck stop sticks deployed by Troopers and Clark County Deputies on State Road 62 but continued on the highway. The truck then traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes of State Road 62 before finally coming to a stop after running off the south side of State Road 62 just east of Logistics Avenue. The driver exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
