Vaccine clinics set up for Wright County kids

Wright County Public Health will hold Covid-19 vaccination clinics for adolescents and young adults ages 12-18. WCPH has been allocated the Pfizer vaccine for those ages between 12-18.  WCPH has the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the Moderna vaccine for anyone else age 18 and older.    The public clinic dates for 12-18 year olds to get the Pfizer vaccine are May 20, 24, and 25 and June 1-3 from 3-6 p.m. at the WCPH Office in Clarion. If you would like an appointment, call Public Health at 515-532-3461. Keep an eye out for future clinics.   The Belmond-Klemme Schools will be having a clinic at the high school for students age 12-18 on May 27 from 1-3 p.m. Clarion students interested in getting the vaccine may call and make an appointment with WCPH.

Vaccine appointments fill up fast; expect a long wait

The first Covid-19 weekly vaccine clinic in Belmond for people over 65 is set for Monday, Feb. 15 at the Catholic church. But as of Feb. 1, all the appointments have been claimed through the first week of March. (There are 40 spots available each Monday.)   Sandy McGrath of Wright County Public Health told the board of supervisors Monday that she expects to get another 200 doses of vaccine this week. In addition to Belmond, she is planning other clinics for Thursdays in Clarion and Tuesdays in Eagle Grove. All those slots through March 4 (40 per week) have also been spoken for. Rowan, Dows and Goldfield will be added later.
