Last Comment: July 27, 2021 9:10 pm ET | 1 Comment(s) | Jump to Comments Driver Brandon Campbell entered Tuesday’s card of racing at Century Downs just one victory shy of 2,000 wins, and he didn’t waste any time taking care of business. Campbell hustled Tiempo Hanover to the lead in the $8,100 Open Pace and the gelding successfully whacked out fractions of :27.1, :54.3 and 1:22.3 before using a :29.2 final frame to post the win in 1:52. It was 1-1/2 lengths back to runner-up Armycaptin Hanover, with Dontpokethedragon finishing third. Campbell trains the seven-year-old son of Western Ideal-Tempest Blue Chip for Alberta partners Jodi Loftus, Dana Shore and Raymond Henry. The victory was his fourth of the season and the 19th of his career. He’s quickly closing in on $180,000 in lifetime earnings.

Tiempo Hanover Holds At Century | Standardbred Canada

Late-charging Dontpokethedragon raised the pressure on tempo-setter Tiempo Hanover, but the seven-year-old Western Ideal gelding passed the beam just in time to take the $8,100 Open Pace at Century Downs on Tuesday (July 20). Trainer-driver Brandon Campbell took command with Tiempo Hanover, pocketing even-money favourite Icy Blue Scooter to a :27.2 first quarter. Armycaptin Hanover angled first over passing the stands first time and carried Dontpokethedragon into contention through a :56.3 half and towards three-quarters in 1:24. Tiempo Hanover maintained control around the final turn as Dontpokethedragon sprung off cover and rallied in the straightaway. But Tiempo Hanover had enough left in the tank to keep a nose in front at the end of a 1:53 mile. Icy Blue Scooter finished third.

Paperback Thriller Pulls Through | Standardbred Canada

Circling to the lead by the quarter, Paperback Thriller remained strong on the point to the finish of the $12,000 featured pace at Fraser Downs on Wednesday (March 31). Driver Brandon Campbell settled Paperback Thriller into second nearing a :29.3 opening quarter, but soon revved the six-year-old Mystery Chase mare from the pocket to the front passing the stands. The Jim Marino trainee took control before a :58.2 half and continued to roll as the field marched to three-quarters in 1:26.4. She gained some separation around the final turn but grew slightly leg weary as odds-on favourite Cusdmagicdragon came flying for the lead late. Though the finish came just in time, with Paperback Thriller holding firm by three-quarter lengths to win in 1:54.4. Rockin Mystery finished third.
