There are many opportunities to network in Calgary, through breakfast clubs, associations and organizations. The one that stands out for members to become better leaders and to be introduced to business opportunities among its 30,000 global members is YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization).

EDMONTON An Edmonton councillor is voicing concerns against a proposed condo tower on Whyte Avenue that would tear down a building with historical value. Wexford Developments wants to build The Baron, a nine-storey condo building on the site where the Archibald Block is located, on Whyte Avenue and 105 Street. The Archibald Block, currently the home of When Pigs Fly, was built in 1909, and while it’s not a protected resource, historians say it represents early commercial growth in Old Strathcona. The site is currently occupied by the Archibald Block, home to the gift shop When Pigs Fly. Built in 1909, the single-storey brick structure is on the city’s inventory of historic resources, but it isn’t currently protected from demolition.
