Mark Redburn was named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year and junior Rachel Rook was tabbed OVC Pitcher of the Year headlining SEMO Softball’s All-Conference honorees for the 2021 season.
Redburn earned his second-straight OVC Coach of the Year award after leading the Redhawks to a program record 23 conference wins and their second consecutive OVC regular-season title. In league play alone, SEMO outscored its opponents by a +100 (165-65) margin. Statistically, the Redhawks rank among the league s top two teams in 15 different statistical categories.
A native of Republic, Missouri, Rook is only the second player in SEMO softball history to garner OVC Pitcher of the Year accolades. Also a First-Team All-OVC selection, Rook leads the OVC in five statistical categories. Nationally, Rook ranks eighth in saves, 15th in shutouts, and among the top 35 in three other categories: 29th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.8), 32nd in strikeouts and 33rd in wins.
Racers swept by SEMO in Missouri

It was a tough weekend for the Murray State softball team as they were swept by SEMO in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2. The Racers managed to score seven runs against the Redhawks and allowed 11 runs across three games.
Game One
Junior right-hander Hannah James was started on the mound for the Racers in game one. She went on to pitch the entire seven inning game, striking out eight batters and allowing just three hits.
The Redhawks gave junior right-hander Rachel Rook the start on the mound for game one. She also pitched the entire game with nine strikeouts in the game and just one hit allowed.

Southeast Missouri swept the Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards for the second time this season Monday. Ashley Ellis was named OVC Player of the Week, while Rachel Rook claimed the league s Pitcher of the Week honor.
Ellis, a senior from Arnold, Missouri, homered three times and hit .500 in SEMO s series sweep of Murray State (May 1-2). Ellis hit a pair of home runs and broke the program s all-time career home run record in the series finale against the Racers. She also scored three runs and had four RBI. Ellis posted her fourth multi-home run game of the season and now has 51 career home runs, including a team-high 17 this year.
