Planting her ski poles into the hard snow and pushing off with one foot and then the other, Emily Cameron’s skis glide forward as she propels herself through Wascana Park.
The wind chill of -32 C doesn’t scare the 86-year-old away from the sport she loves. Bundled up in a warm jacket, snow pants, large mittens, fleece headband and toque, her laughter rings through the air as she proclaims she isn’t cold at all.

Until nine years ago, Rachel Molnar never owned a cat.
She grew up with a dog, yet the debate between “cat people” and “dog people” doesn’t pertain for her. She’s very firmly and very simply an animal person.

“I got my first cat in 2012 and I just adored him …,” she says of the kitty named Ollie she adopted through the Regina Humane Society. “He was born in the winter in the back of an RCMP cruiser. The thought of these other animals being outside kind of made me sad and it made me want to do something.”
