The town council staged its first-ever allotment photo competition. And the event, designed to showcase Keighley’s hundreds of plots, was hailed as a huge success. Anyone with an allotment in the town could take part. Entries were judged by a panel comprising members of the town council’s allotments and landscapes committee who considered a range of factors, including technical ability, originality, creativity and composition. All winners will receive a session with award-winning gardener Steve Thorpe. Councillor Luke Maunsell said: “This was the first year of the competition and we were delighted with the response. “Keighley Town Council has over 400 allotments across 13 sites and we were pleased to be able to showcase just some of the hard work our allotment holders put into their plots.
