This is the first year that the Pride of Pakistan recognitions were being made. Over the course of the day one spotted ACCA topper Zara Naeem Dar, Pakistan’s first beauty blogger with the Down’s Syndrome Riddah Zahra Naqvi, World Memory Champion Emma Alam and countless individuals, men and women, from all sections of society.
The melodious ‘Yaariyan’ from the Ehd e Wafa soundtrack danced its way around the Shakarpariyan Parade Ground in Islamabad as guests were driven up and seated for a morning of patriotic festivities. We had assembled for the Pakistan Day Parade, originally meant to be held – as custom – on 23rd March. But the skies had other plans and heavy rainstorms had pushed the show to the 25th. The two-day delay meant that a lot of celebrities confirmed to attend had to return to prior commitments but the show went on unperturbed, with as much pomp and ceremony that you’d expect from a morning meant for national pride.
Traders community holds protest against new business timings

Rawalpindi: The business community of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have staged a protest demonstration on Monday against government decision regarding closure of all markets and shops at 6 pm and three-day break of commercial activities in a week.
A big gathering of business community carrying banners and placards blocked both sides of Murree Road at Liaquat Bagh. A heavy contingent of police was present to control the situation. Police high-ups fully tried to remove protesters from road but in vain.

The Pakistan Customs has introduced a system of advance filing of manifest and clearance of goods before the landing of aircraft.
Irfan Ali, a spokesman for the customs, said on Wednesday that the FBR under the performance agreements signed with the Prime Minister’s Office was consistently reforming procedures and workflow in compliance with international commitments on trade facilitation.
Under the reforms initiatives undertaken by the FBR chairman, the Pakistan Customs is making great strides in improving the ease of doing business in the country. Vaccine trial: JNMCH of AMU receives Bharat Biotech’s letter of appreciation

New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) received a letter of appreciation from Bharat Biotech for taking part in the phase 3 trial of Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’.
Talking about the questions he faced while busting myths regarding the vaccine, a microbiology postgraduate Shafiq-ur Rehman Khan said that many people had asked whether taking a vaccine will result in infertility.
He said that volunteers were from both Hindu and Muslim religion.
Meanwhile Prof Mohd Shameem, the principal investigator said that the letter from Bharat Biotech congratulated the university’s VC, professor, and the team.
