CANTON – County legislators gave preliminary approval to get up to $6 million in bonds to build new sand/salt storage barns in Russell and Lisbon.
The Finance Committee took the vote during their Monday, May 24 meeting.
County Highway Superintendent Don Chambers said the actual projects will cost around $5.5 million.
“The balance would be used for bond council and advertising and such, and also the in-kind work the county would do” grading and paving parking lots, putting in storage building floors,” he said.
County Treasurer Renee Cole said they’re looking at paying the bonds over 15 years.
