Dewey budget committee to meet
The Dewey Beach Budget and Finance Committee will meet virtually at 4 p.m., Friday, April 23, to discuss the budget performance for the 2021 fiscal year, the newly approved 2022 fiscal year budget and the hotel lodging tax, as well as new revenue stream opportunities for the town. Lewes City Hall, BPW closed Dec. 31-Jan. 1
The offices of Lewes City Hall and the Lewes Board of Public Works will be closed Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. Although offices remain closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, staff will resume their normal duties Monday, Jan. 4.
Rehoboth approves removal of two trees
The Rehoboth Beach Parks & Shade Tree Commission approved the removal of two trees during a meeting Dec. 21.
Beginning with a request by James Williamson, owner of the property at 119 Columbia Ave., the commission voted 3-2 in favor of allowing the removal of an oak tree from his front yard. City Arborist Elizabeth Lingo had denied the application, but commissioners decided to approve it because Williamson would still have more than the minimum number of trees required on the property. Both retail and classified advertising deadlines will be moved up for the next two weeks due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The deadline for the Friday, Dec. 25 issue will be noon, Monday, Dec. 21. The deadline for the Tuesday, Dec. 29 issue will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 23. The deadline for the Friday, Jan. 1 issue will be noon, Monday, Dec. 28. The deadline for the Tuesday, Jan. 5 edition will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 30.
