THIEVES who stole 20 used car and truck batteries from a garage in Vale over the weekend are unlikely to get much payback for their efforts.

The batteries were taken from Carrus Auto Parts at Landes du Marche between about 3pm on Friday and the same time the following day.
Carrus director Jeremy Marquis said the batteries were being kept outside the premises prior to being put into a large container for collection and recycling.
‘They have a scrap value, depending on the weight,’ he said. ‘Some of them were quite heavy but they would average about £3 a unit.’

Yellow warnings indicate snow flurries and suggest people be cautious when out and about.
An orange warning would be issued if light to moderate snowfall was to be expected, and a red warning would occur if heavy snow or a blizzard were to be forecast.

Some rain and sleet was forecasted to fall last night.
A Guernsey Met Office spokesperson said looking at the latest models, they showed frequent showers of rain or sleet over the next few days.
