Oregonians, are you vaccinated? You can take off your masks, stop social distancing — in most places

ONTARIO Oregonians who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer need to wear masks or social distance in most public spaces, whether inside or outside. The announcement came Thursday by Gov. Kate Brown, who said the move was in line with the Centers for Disease Controls new guidance issued earlier that day. “It is yet another sign that, if we all continue to do our part, the pandemic is coming closer to an end,” said Brown in a video statement. The CDC says exceptions include public transportation, hospitals, health-care clinics, correctional facilities and long-term care facilities. Per that guidance, Oregon will continue to require masks and social distancing in those circumstances, according to Brown.

SALEM, Ore. – Gov. Kate Brown announced Thursday afternoon Oregon will be following CDC’s new guidance for mask-wearing. The CDC is lifting mask and social distancing requirements for fully vaccinated people. However, there are a few exceptions, such as buses, hospitals, and health care clinics, correctional facilities, and long-term care facilities. Oregon will continue to require individuals to remain masked and distanced in these circumstances. Gov. Kate Brown also said immuno-compromised people should continue to follow the recommendations of their health care provider when it comes to personal protective measures. Nothing is changing for schools this school year. Both students and staff members continue to wear masks and physically distance, as outlined in our Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance.

Brown Sets Vaccination Goal | K103 Portland

May 11, 2021 Governor Kate Brown today announced vaccination targets to more fully reopen Oregon s economy, setting a 70% statewide goal to reach Oregonians 16 and older with a first dose to lift most Risk Level restrictions. Additionally, beginning on May 21, counties will have the option of moving to the Lower Risk level once 65% of county residents 16 and older have received at least one vaccine dose, and counties have submitted a complete plan to close equity gaps in vaccination. “Thanks to you, Oregon, it looks like we’ve crossed the tipping point of the fourth surge,” said Governor Brown. Our hospitalization rates have stabilized. Our infection rates are on a downward trajectory. And in the race between vaccines and variants, our efforts to vaccinate Oregonians are taking the lead.
