A new report says Grand Rapids is one of the top 10 cities best positioned to attract remote workers.
Livability.com last month published a ranking of the Top 10 Remote-Ready Cities in the U.S. in partnership with Fourth Economy, a national community and economic development consulting firm, and Grand Rapids is No. 2 on the list.
“Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, 42% of people have either moved or thought about moving, and many of them are taking their jobs with them,” said Winona Dimeo-Ediger, editor-in-chief of Livability.com. “This is a huge opportunity for cities to attract new residents, and the 10 cities on this list are perfect examples of places with the infrastructure and amenities remote workers are looking for.”

Livability.com has released its Top 10 Remote-Ready Cities in the US rankings in partnership with Fourth Economy, a national community and economic development consulting firm that equips change agents with the tools to build better communities and stronger economies.
When the pandemic hit last year, millions of people transitioned to working remotely with little to no time to adjust or prepare. Despite the circumstances, employees and employers quickly realized that this massive virtual work experiment was successful, and many major companies announced they’d be extending their work-from-home policies through at least 2021, if not indefinitely, raising a big question for countless newly remote workers: If you could work from anywhere, where do you want to live?
Duluth Makes List of Top 10 Remote-Ready Cities
With a large majority of workers remote working during the pandemic, many expect the trend to continue well after the pandemic has passed.
With the ability and blessing to remote work from companies many people are deciding to move away from homes near where they once worked daily, and Duluth has just made a list from Livability.com of best Remote-Ready Cities.
The cities were ranked on information combined from Fourth Economy’s Community Index and data from the Livability’s 2020 Top 100 Best Places to Live list and other data including broadband access, quality of life, affordability, and local jobs that can be done from home.
