Junior trio propels Mountain Valley girls to rivalry win over Dirigo

Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal RUMFORD On a night when Mountain Valley’s 1,000-point scorer Rylee Sevigny and fellow senior Courtney Therrien were honored, a trio of juniors played starring roles for the Falcons in a rivalry win over Dirigo on Monday. Tony Blasi/Sun Journal DIXFIELD Coaches Zac Conlogue and Reggie Weston found it refreshing that their teams from two different classes left it all out on the basketball court on Saturday night. It was a run-and-gun affair for Class A Mt. Blue and Class C Dirigo, with Mt. Blue grabbing a convincing 54-31 victory. It was Mt. Blue’s first win of the season. “I thought it was kind of cool,” Mt. Blue’s Conlogue said. “We typically don’t play teams like this and it was nice to see a different opponent. It was a very competitive game. Hats off to Dirigo. They worked very hard.”
