Ruma Khatun clinches 1st gold in taekwondo Sports Reporter : Ruma Khatun of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP clinched first gold medal in taekwondo competition of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games on Tuesday. Ruma Khutun won gold in women s senior pumsae event scoring 7.70 at the gymnasium in the National Sports Council. Anika Akter of Bangladesh Army bagged silver in this event scoring 7.60. Israt Jahan Ria of Cumilla District Sports Association and Jannatul Tamanna Tabassum jointly earned bronze medal in this event. Ruma Khatun bagged gold for the first time in Bangladesh Games in her first campaign. She is highly delighted to clinch gold medal. Ruma said, This was my first participation in Bangladesh Games. I clinched gold in my first appearance. I cannot express my feelings. I feel so good.

Abducted teenage girl rescued in Jashore; 2 arrested Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Police have rescued a teenage girl today seven days after her abduction from Sharsha upazila of Jashore. The teenager, identified as Purnima Das (13), was abducted from her house by one Akbar Hossain (32) and his wife Ruma Khatun (25). Police arrested Akbar and Rumi in this connection, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Badrul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sharsha police station. According to case document, Akbar and Rumi went to the house of Purnima as they were known to her family members. As Purnima s father Robin Das and her mother were not at home, Akbar and his wife Rumi took the girl away and fled from the house. Her father filed an abduction case with Sharsha police facility, stated the case document.
