Jupiter’s Greek plum project trials six new varieties
Global fresh produce grower Jupiter Group are thrilled to announce that they will be trialling six new varieties of South African plums in the northern hemisphere for the first time.
In co-operation with their kiwi partner in Greece, AS Nestos, Jupiter have secured the African Delight, Ruby Star, African Rose, Ruby Sun, Ruby Crisp and Sun Kiss plum varieties.

The plum varieties have been curated as part of a Culdevco breeding programme, a deciduous fruit licensor that curates and licenses innovative new varieties of plums, peaches, apples, pears and table grapes. The six varieties have been selected for their flavour, quality and likelihood to flourish in the prime surroundings of Kavala, Greece.

Ricky Alan Burkett, age 63, of River Falls WI, died on December 25, 2020 of pancreatic cancer at the River Falls Area Hospital, while also under the care of Allina Hospice.
Born September 20, 1957 to Gene and Roberta aka ‘Bert’ (Crisp) Burkett. United in marriage to Denise Ann Paul on July 15, 1978 by a justice of the peace in the backyard of Denise’s cousin in Ceres, California. Ricky will be remembered by many for his stories of his California upbringing, spending weekends at the lake camping, riding Honda 90’s with family and friends, and his many life adventures. Rick said to more than one person he did it right, he enjoyed his life while he was young. Doing what he wanted (4-wheeling, camping, and riding his Harley) before he got to an age where he could no longer do the things he enjoyed most.

William “Ray” Crisp, 80, of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at his residence.
He was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of Big Spring United Methodist Church
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Crisp; siblings: Roy Crisp, Dale Crisp and Roberta Gayle Seagraves; and brother-in-law, Donald Seagraves.
He is survived by his siblings: Kelli Seagraves of Cleveland, Donnie Seagraves of Cleveland, and Paul Miller and wife, Amy, of Cleveland.
A Celebration of His Life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
