Officers took 25-year-old Albert Jesse Rodriguez into custody Wednesday, March 10, after he was found in Mexico recently, according to the LBPD. He’s now being held on $2 million bail.
Police had been looking for Rodriguez since 2015. Authorities allege that in June that year, Rodriguez shot and killed 18-year-old Ruben Barrera in a gang-related dispute in North Long Beach.
In December 2015, police put out a bulletin asking for help finding Rodriguez and warning people to consider him armed and dangerous.
The case received little public attention since then, but, “Recently, Homicide detectives received information that Rodriguez was in Mexico near the U.S. border and began to coordinate his arrest,” police said in a statement, but did not elaborate.
